In the ever changing business environment, the role of information resources is vital and thus, the core objective of the information management (IM) area is to equip the students with the necessary technical and managerial insights to excel in their chosen profession.
The core courses offered in different programmes like Fundamentals of Information Technology, Management Information Systems build the foundation and therefore, are generalised in nature. Elective courses are designed to provide in-depth knowledge regarding a specific domain i.e. ERP, Business Process Re-engineering, Technology Enabled Operations Management, Cyber Security, E-Business Management, Software Project Management etc. Additionally, the area also offers skill enhancement courses in the form of general elective courses like E-Commerce and Big Data. These courses are independent of specialisation and sector chosen by students.
The IM area has always endeavoured to keep abreast with the changes in the environment by updating the curriculum based on industry inputs. The wide spread proliferation of SMAC technologies and convergence of industry 4.0 technologies have opened up more opportunities for modern data driven organisation. In order to bridge this gap, the IM area has introduced a Business Analytics specialisation where the students are introduced to the basics of Business Intelligence, Business Analytics & Data Visualisation, Data Science, Big Data & IOT, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning and Python and R Programming.
